1 Riding land Idea on Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:31 pm

I did some searching on craigslist for land for club to lease toady, but no luck unless we pay ungodly amount of money. also they didn't want atv's to be ridden there on places I did find. So I posted my own classified to craigslist to find some land for this summer for the club. I prolly can't afford to pay for it myseif, but I don't think the majority of members wouldn't mind to pay a little out of the pocket to ride some where close, cook out, hold meetings, etc. I did it for the general area of kansas and missouri.I don't know if anybody else has also put a classified, but if so more the ads the better the luck.If you guys think this a good idea let me know if your willing to chip in.

i like the idea of renting land to ride. i talked to my boss about some bottom ground farm land that he has. the land has flooded four times last year. and he never got a crop off. i asked about renting ,he said no but is looking to sale. I think it is abbitt high for the club to even think about. he is asking 2600 an acre.and there is 46 acres which works out to 119600.

Geoff i knew that the land was way to high, i think that it is way to high for about anything else too.it is swamp land that they tried to far and it floods to much to be any good. i talked with the original owners awhile back and he said he only got a crop off it about once every eight years. it would be perfect for us. but not at those prices

It also just depends on how far one is willing to drive to have land. Whenever we auctioned off both of our farms in Burlington, KS (Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant) are they only brought right at $500/acre. Unfortunately, the cost of land is only going up and I do not see it taking a downward trend at least for the rest of my life time here on earth....lo.

I didn't even think about the insurance thing. What could we do where both parties are happy. because I know you can sign wavers, but I've heard how lawyers can get around that and still sue. Now I don't believe any of members would do that cause getting hurt while riding is the name of the game. But im sure the landowner would be thinking about that.
