thinking about buying 2 more

2006 Polaris predator 500 troy lee he says you can pull start it in the morning and then it will start all day long with the starter.i think that may be a valve adjustment problem or carb needs cleaned.atv looks perfect not toreup at all with new back tires.
hes asking 1000.00 and hes firm on this

im thinking about buying this to an 2005 artic cat 400i 4x4 atv looks nice not all toreup at all.says the drive train is fine but for some reason it lockedup on him 1 day (6000 miles) he wants 850.00 for this atv.
what do you guys think

im also in the process of starting an ebay atv parts store so if they are not worth fixing I can allways part them on ebay.

ps the charity ride was killer checkout the video on utube under jake helmig atv charity ride 2013 who ever filmed it got me and my brothers wife going through the water on the black brute 750 and she was on the camo 750 right behind me.
did you guys make it to the ride?

killer454, definitely sounds like an opportunity to probably make a little extra spending money on both projects.

I do not believe that anybody from our club made it down to the charity ride as I believe it fell the same weekend as the St. Joe State Park ride weekend.

Unfortunately, I have been off of mine since my wreck in July and going through physical therapy now.

I hope to see you back up and rideing soon,im thinking im done rideing till next spring myself.winter is a bumber riding just isn't much fun when its cold outside.

I think I will try to pick these 2 up for winter fixes,right now im working on a 2002 Yamaha xlt 1200 waverunner crank,center cylinder bad piston to.already got a cylinder need crankshaft pistons gaskets and will be ready for the water next spring.

i sure hope you get better for next spring looking forward to rideing with you guys.this time im going to ask when everybody is going out rideing so i can tag along with you all.

I had a buddy give me a KX80 and said all it needs is a top end. It will kick over, but had a tight grind to it. I am guessing it will probably need a sleeve for the cylinder at the same time. But, I haven't tore into it yet and will probably just make it my winter project as well and use it as a little pit bike. Should be a screamer!

I have rebuild 1 2-stroker it was a while back and it was a cr125r,it was a nightmare.this bike had a servo that operated the power valve and I did not like that setup on it.i think the mechanical linkage is the best.
anyway this was my nephews bike and it needed a topend put in it to so I checked around for what way to go with the cylinder-re-nickalsil or steel sleeve or buy new cylinder from Honda.
I picked to have the cylinder sleeved with a steel sleeve so I mailed it to florida to someone that has done a lot of them.cylinder got back to me put the bike together and omg what a pain trying to rejet this thing.
for what it cost me for the sleeve and machine work I could have poped another hundred and had a new cylinder bought just like factory.

if I ever do another I will go with a new Honda cylinder, sleeves just retain to much heat in 2-strokes I think.but also keep in mind this was my first build on a bike I did get it going but he melted the piston after around 6 months probebly 75 hours of ride time.
that is a good winter project I miss being on 2-wheels 1.5 years ago I was riding a 04 yz450f nice bike but did not like the 4 speed trany I had to gear it for trail rideing but once I did that, it was nice.

Yeah, I had a 05 RMZ450R that also had the 4 speed tranny. Man, that thing was a beast and I really miss it. I tore the rear hub out of it 2 miles into some really rugged terrain at Chadwick, MO and it took us about 2-1/2 hours to get it back to camp. Brought it home and did a straight up trade for the 05 CRF250R that I am still riding today, well up until my mishap back in July anyways...LOL

That was an adventure getting you out but then again getting my trail boss out at st joe was too. Seems like we have a few of these things happen but great to know we all pitch in to get everyone back. Almost forgot Curado at finger lakes.

Yeah, but Curado was literally a search and rescue mission....we'll classify that under a different category...LOL....Just glad we found them safe and sound though!

well I pickedup 2 more atvs drove down by springfeid and pickedup a 2006 artic cat 400 4x4 irs with good compression.got it home and cleaned the carb thing runs great,but body is very rough.
so was looking on craigs list found and 05 in better condition that a formers boy ran it out of oil,going to put the 06 engine in the nicer 05 everything is the same on them except the plastics.

the 05 looks pretty good even has a 2500# winch on the front,has the chrome wheels on it to.plastics are not toreup either

I hope I come out allright on what I paid for both of them-I gave 750.00 for the 06 with the running engine and I gave 850.00 for the 05 that was in better condition.i also have ordered a 100.00 seat off ebay in good condition,wow money is starting to addup.

these 400s are oil cooled with a fan on the cooler don't really like that but I guess it works for them.

I have a 06 400 and have owned a 05 Arctic Cat, never really haven't had any major issues, so far, seems to be pretty decent quads.

With what you paid i think you will do. alrighht id ask 3600

Sounds like you'll make a little either and still cover your fuel too!

well I got the bad motor out of the 05 yesterday looks like the piston is welded to the top of the rod and cylinder is scratchedup.
I guess all good parts will go to my ebay store off this engine
going to power wash the frame on the 05 today and remove the good engine out of the 06.
I cant even hardly read what im typing,you know your getting old when your setting at a computer with your contacts in but your glasses are over at the garage so you cant see very well.lol-lol

hope to have it done by the weekend
