This isn't about needing help on a bike more like helping someone not get screwed by Advantage Powersports. I have never had any luck with this place. They seem to never have parts in stock. Ordering takes weeks and they don't call when they arrive. On one occasion they ordered the wrong part 3 times (so they say). Well 5 weeks ago my neighbor took his CR450 there to have the water pump looked at because it was leaking out of the weep hole. They called him last Thursday and said it was done. He went and picked it up, brought it home and test rode it. He went around the block and when he got back there was antifreeze coming out of the overflow tube on the radiator. He parked it and we noticed a bubble coming from the weep hole. It was some kind of sealant, basically they didnt fix the problem they just tried to hide it. They charged him over $300 to fix it and had it for 5 weeks. They told him that they would make it right if he brought the bike back in but couldn't give him his money back. Fortunately my neighbor has a mouth and was telling every customer in the store what they did to him and they promptly gave him his money back. Just putting the word out so noone else goes through this.

Oh i know they never stock anything, unless its something they drive, i had learned real quick that you order something, just keep calling everyday till it gets there, because they will not call you for nothing. When my Renegade was totalled out they pretty much had to get a New frame and put everything from mine to this new frame, I told them no big hurry they had other things going on. Then out of the blue they call me said well its ready you need to come and get it NOW. I was like whats the rush, they said you do not come and get it now we are going to put a lein against it, i was like what the H-E double hockey sticks, pretty much told them to kisss something along the way. I went and got the kid that totalled it, said you got a choice either pay them, or buy me a new one or start saying a prayer, he got the money and paid them i took it home, and never will i ever take anything there to be worked on again, they bite

Not too mention how nearly every sales employee has the demeanor that he is bad "arrs" and needs to help nobody.

I only go to dealers when I need parts and luckily I have found someone at each dealership I attempt to talk to. Then I don't deal with the no brained know nothing sales employees that call themselves persons.

I usually shop for parts in St Joe and when they dont have what I need I go online, St Joe Honda has been amazing, they have great customer service peeps, including BigRed Billy which is one of our members here.

The Dirt Shack is also good usually, they are sometimes more friendly if they know you but they are always friendly enough.

Of course now we also have GSGRISSO Scotts shop Evil Twin Cycles *powersports* Razz that can order just about anything you need and he doesnt charge a ton of money to order stuff like some shops do.

Thanks for the heads up and I am glad your buddy got his dough back, its amazing how fast they can produce money when you start talking lol, I had a buddy that got screwed over by a "buy here pay here" car lot when they sold him a car with a 30 day warranty and 35 days later the engine locked up and they found tons of oil additive crap in the engine, they had just hid issues and sold the car to him. He called Fox 4 problem solvers, the better business bureau and even better he stood out in front of their lot with a 6ft sign that said some smartarsss saying "HELL NO I WONT GO UNTIL I GET MY DOUGH" lol. They offered him his money back but he refused, he finally agreed to his money PLUS the money he spent on phone calls, sign materials, and his 3 missed days of work from picketing their business lol. They paid him over 1200 bucks more than the car was originally priced lol.

Word of mouth goes a LONG way in business, I just had this conversation with Scott at the shop on his Garage Night Saturday, he was telling me about all the customers being so surprised tha he was so nice to them even if they did not buy anything and how he went out of his way to make sure they got the right parts even though they "thought" they knew what they needed lol. He sent a tire home with an ol boy for a couple days to prove to the guy that the tire he wanted was too big, he sent 3 gaskets with a guy and told him to return the two that didnt fit, now THAT is customer service and if he keeps up that attitude he will do GREAT.

You are right Geoff, we need more places that believe in customer service before profit. They dont want to work for their money they want it now. I will drive out of my way to go to a shop that is more customer driven. I drive 40 minutes to a Honda dealer for my wifes parts instead of 15 minutes to Advantage.

I firmly believe that without customer service, a company won't survive these days. Sure, you can normally find it cheaper on the internet. However, try just once returning something that you have purchase from the net and see what small percentage, if anything that you get back.

Don't even get me started on these a holes, i had a bike in my shop last week that a good customer and a long time friend brought to me. He had just purchased this ultra from them, they it was ready to go, went to get it inspected, wouldn't pass all the parking lights don't work, him he says well it prolly just a fuse, puts a fuse in, pop, fuse blows, does it again pops fuse. He call them up tells they tell him they don't have time to work on it

Shocked Shocked Shocked

so then they say take it to st joe harley, he calls them they say will be a month before they can get him in affraid ... whatever....anyway, he calls them back and says he a buddy of mine just opened a bike shop they are iron-horse certified and have s&s motor schooling can i take it there since Harley cant get to it, they say yes take it to them and have them send us a bill.....

I get bike hearing hole story and tell him sure, we get it in, i work on it that day all day and find three different problems where someone has hacked the crap out of it and event-dentally couldn't fix it.. to make a longer story short my labor rate is twenty five dollars a hour cheaper than Harley, so i send them a bill for 10 hours, which should have been 13.. they call me screaming freaking out calling me a mother f er and all this.....so anyway i still haven't got paid and probably wont, not saying we at my shop are the greatest but i can guarantee to all of you if anyone ANYONE at my shop talks to anyone that way at my shop my foot will seriously escort there butt out and not in a gentle way either..

here is a couple pics of how far i had to tear down this ultra to find the problem..remember this a complete bagger that is a 07...

I've been to advantage a couple times and the last time i got in a fight with one of the mechanics who thought he knew everthing about everything. So I took my bike and walked out with a few choice words as I was leaving. If i get parts from any shop it's always liberty cycle theres a guy name isaac and he will hook you up and help you out with out any additude. I never recommend anybody to go to advantage.

Scott,
Hope you are at least able to recoup some of your money by hopefully now having a repeat customer at least.

well I have friends in sand drags and they give them a discount and such and treat them well. But to me an average guy they don't know or don't go there often. Get little to no help or get ripped off. But hey thats my personal opinon and experiences with them.
