I have a ltz 250 with a pro circuit full exhaust and K&N air filter. When I go to give it full throttle in a gear it cuts out. I can go through all gears at low throttle but when i get to the top gear it still cuts out. I was wondering if I need a jet kit? If so what stage. Thanks.

I would go up a size or two on the main jet, wouldnt hurt to go up a size on the pilot jet. Some carbs will benefit from moving the needle up or down a notch in the carb.

I would NOT buy a "jet kit", they are pretty much a rip off selling jets for 10 times what they cost most of the time, you can buy jets locally for a couple bucks each usually at the most 3 or 4.

Here is a pretty detailed description of how to do things and detailed description of how each jet works, let us know if you need any help, maybe a close by member can help ya.

Forgot to add, check for air leaks around the carb and where the carb boot meets the engine, that can cause a cut out too but most of the time you get the tell-tale backfiring from that

Thanks guys. ILL have to check on the jets tomorrow. Do you guys have any idea where to buy them. I could go to a atv dealer or like a hardware or automotive store. Another question the dealer quoted me $105.00 to do all the labor and parts I thought that was a little high am i wrong?

Geoff I ended up doing it myself. It was eaiser than I thought! Took the side plastics off and pulled the carb right off. I went up to Donnels a local suzuki dealer and got some jets. I had to try two different sizes but the only jet i replaced is the main and it runs fast and no more cutting out. Thanks everyone for the advice.

That is aweseomd SuzukiRider!!!!

I have delt with Dell's as well as Donnell's in the past. I have bought a total of four motorcycles from Dell's in the past, well up until they sold within the last year or so and I will never go back due to a really bad experience with my wife's bike.

Donnell's in the best in our area as far as I am concerned by far!......

Glad to hear you got it running right again too!!!

Awesome, glad you didnt have to buy an overpriced kit to fix it, keep us updated and also its worth mentioning that during the summer when its warmer if your quad starts to smoke black or smells like its running very rich you may have to go down a size on your main jet.

The cold weather is good on engines but it can be a bit tricky if you are a perfectionist on jetting, I have only done jetting on a few quads but alot of two stroker dirtbikes and it can be tricky to get perfect results, the trick is to get as close as you can to perfect and leave it alone lol
